BE WILD, BE FREE

The 30-mile route is one big loop that tours the northern portion of High Lonesome Ranch’s property, circling the Horse Mountain Range. This course is intended to give those who seek a well supported and curated gravel experience without the pressure of timing and results. We invite you to enjoy the company of others and soak in your surroundings and the many vistas this rugged part of Colorado affords.
The course begins at an elevation of 5,630’ on a gentle-grade county road and continues to climb for the first 14 miles – but at a reasonable grade (mostly) – topping out at 8,197’ in elevation. With 90% of the climbing coming in the first half, you’ll be rewarded with a fun and mostly flowy downhill to the finish line. The aid station location for the short course is still pending, but we will likely position it at the high point of the ride.
Please note, the long course joins up with the short course at mile 5, but at this time the field of cyclists from the long course will be well spread out and it will not impact or impede your ride as they won’t hit that point for at least a couple hours.
As people move into wildlife habitat, animal encounters occur more frequently. Click here to learn more about how to deal with wildlife on trails and gravel roads.
Please note: Route is subject to change pending permits and road conditions.
